Javier Cerda Morey

J. C. Morey is a Spanish artist from the province of Alicante. He was born into a family of artists and connected to the art world since the 60s, which gave him the opportunity from an early age to be in continuous contact with the work of numerous renowned Spanish artists, many of whom he had a personal relationship with. From his family and these professional artists, Morey was able to learn art techniques and create his first works, mainly oil landscape paintings and portraits. Morey considers himself a self-taught artist who has absorbed everything around him and is constantly evolving as both a person and an artist. Fostered by this close art community, his profession grew, and he attended numerous art fairs both nationally and internationally. These venues provided new sources of inspiration and gave him new techniques, enriching his pictorial genre that have now become part of his current style.

Within his playful beach works, the viewer can’t help but become a part of the joyous experience and sensations a day at the ocean provides. By focusing on volume, perspective, and color, Morey aims to transport the viewer to these seaside destinations. The textures, and the contrasts created with perspective and light all work together to enhance the beauty of his works. The Mediterranean Sea and its vibrant colors are a major source of inspiration for Morey’s works.

His works are in private collections in countries such as the U.S.A, the U.K, Norway, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, Germany, and Spain.
